New Delhi:: Both the Upper and the Lower Houses ( Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha ) have been adjourned till noon on Friday amid uproar by various members of the Parliament on several issues.

The ninth straight day of Parliament's Monsoon Session began on Friday amid Opposition protests in both Houses. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were postponed within minutes as opposition leaders continued to demand a debate on price increases, GST, and the Agnipath recruiting scheme.

The announcement was made by Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh after the Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu rejected five notices received from Opposition MPs such as Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Deepender Singh Hooda under Rule 267.

The Chairman dismissed the notifications after Singh declared that the Central Government is ready to conduct a discussion on price increases beginning next week.

Meanwhile, opposition MPs rushed into the well with signs protesting price increases and other issues. The Deputy Chairman adjourned  the proceedings till 12 noon because opposition MPs continued to chant slogans despite efforts from the chair to allow the House to function. Papers were set on the table earlier today when the Upper House convened at 11 a.m.

Criticizing the BJP for using unfair tactics to avoid discussions about price increases, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said earlier in the day that the BJP was still demanding an apology from Sonia Gandhi for Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's controversial 'Rashtrapatni' remark, despite the fact that he had already apologised. "They are doing this on purpose to avoid having to tackle topics like price increases and inflation."
