New Delhi:: Both the Houses of the Parliament - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha -  were adjourned till 12 noon on Thursday again  as BJP MPs demanded for an apology from the Congress over Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury's controversial statement against President Droupadi Murmu.

Union Minister Smriti Irani slammed Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi sanctioned humiliation of a woman in the highest constitutional post.

"Sonia Gandhi, you approved of Droupadi Murmu's humiliation. Sonia ji approved of the humiliation of a woman in the highest constitutional position "the Union minister said.

Sonia Gandhi was in the House when it was adjourned till 12 p.m.  Meanwhile, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said that he had used the term "Rashtrapatni" for President Droupadi  Murmu by mistake and that the ruling party was deliberately trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury "has already apologised," Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi said. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi in Rajya Sabha. "It was a blatant sexist attack. Sonia Gandhi should apologise to India's President and the country "Union finance minister remarked.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi also criticised the opposition and demanded that Adhir apologise immediately.

"This is an insult to the country's indigenous people and the President of India. He should apologise right now. Sonia Gandhi should also apologise for appointing him "Joshi said. Meanwhile, BJP MPs, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, protested the Congress MP's remark in Parliament on Thursday.

Since the Parliament's Monsoon Session began, both Houses have been forced to adjourn on various issues due to the Opposition's uproar.
