Rajya Sabha suspends AAP's Sanjay Singh for a week

NEW DELHI:: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Sanjay Singh on Wednesday, July 27,  was suspended from the Rajya for a week for disrupting the House proceedings and showing utter disregard to the Chair.

Along with  Singh, 20 members from the opposition have so far been suspended in the Upper House.   The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes. Singh was suspended for continuously chanting slogans from the chamber of the house and throwing paper towards the Chair.

When House proceedings resumed at 12 p.m., Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan moved to suspend Singh. A voice vote was used to approve the motion.

Because Singh did not leave the House after being suspended, deputy chairman Harivansh adjourned it for 15 minutes. When the Rajya Sabha reconvened, the deputy chairman asked Singh to leave the chamber. The deputy chairman adjourned the House till 2 p.m. after a failed request.

On Tuesday, the Rajya Sabha suspended 19 opposition members for a week for interrupting House procedures. The Trinamool Congress has seven members, the DMK has six, the TRS has three, the CPI-M has two, and the CPI has one.

Sushmita Dev, Mausam Noor, Shanta Chhetri, Dola Sen, Santanu Sen, Abir Ranjan Biswas, and Nadiumal Haque are among the suspended Trinamool Rajya Sabha members.
