New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will leave for a tour of Serbia next week. Om Birla will lead the Indian Parliamentary delegation to the 141st meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Belgrade, Serbia. Birla will be on tour from October 13 to 17.
The delegation includes Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Vansuk Syam, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dr. Bharatiben Dhirubhai Shyal, Shobha Karandlaje, Ram Kumar Verma, Sasmit Patra, Snehlata Shrivastava, General Secretary, Lok Sabha, Desh Deepak Verma, Secretary-General, Rajya Sabha and The delegation consists of Secretary PC Kaul, Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha. It will leave on 12 October 2019 to participate in the delegation meeting.

During the meeting, the Speaker of Lok Sabha will address the distinguished gathering of Presiding Officers and MPs from 179 member countries on the main topics such as the strengthening of international laws, the role and mechanism of Parliament and contribution of regional cooperation.
After the conclusion of the general discussion, the meeting will adopt a declaration. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha will address this gathering on the subject of development and economy during the meeting of the Speaker's dialogue on governance to be held during the meeting.

During the meeting, members of the Indian delegation will participate in the various committees of the Standing Committees of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Governing Council, the Women's Parliamentary Forum, the Youth Parliamentarians Forum and panel discussions on important topics.
Members of the delegation will also participate in the meetings of the Parliamentary Forum on BRICS and the coordination meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held on the occasion. The General Secretaries of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will attend the meetings of the Association of General Secretaries (ASGP) of various parliaments.
