Karimnagar: District Principal Sessions Judge Priyadarshini said that due to the closure of courts during the pandemic, many cases remained pending and many cases were awaiting trial and justice. The judge was speaking at the inauguration of the National Lok Adalat at the District Legal Services Authority building in the District Court Complex in Karimnagar on Saturday. The judge said that the National Lok Adalat has identified 4,000 people in Karimnagar district.

The judge said that at present more than 70,000 cases are pending in all the courts of Karimnagar district. All such cases can be settled expeditiously in Lok Adalat. Long pending cases can also be resolved in one hearing if both the plaintiffs approach Lok Adalat. He said that speedy disposal of cases in Lok Adalat would save time and money of the clients, adding that if the cases are settled in Lok Adalat there is no possibility of appealing again in the High Courts.

New cases were being registered in the courts every day. He said that the National Lok Adalat was dealing with conciliation criminal cases, civil cases and family disputes, check bounce cases and matters related to Motor Vehicle Act, bank, chit fund cases and land disputes. Additional Collector, Local Body Garima Agarwal, Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Sujay, President of Bar Association Raghunandan Rao, Additional DCP Chandra Mohan and others were present in the meeting.
