New Delhi: Tribal Pride Day is being celebrated across the country today on the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda and PM Narendra Modi has addressed the nation on this occasion. During this, PM Modi while saluting Lord Birsa Munda said that it is my government's good fortune that we got the opportunity to declare November 15 as Tribal Pride Day.
While saluting Lord Birsa Munda, PM Modi said, 'Today the whole of India is celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda with full devotion and respect. I respectfully bow down to Lord Birsa Munda, the great revolutionary son of the nation. I consider it a privilege of our government that we got the opportunity to declare 15th November (the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda) as Tribal Pride Day. He was not only the hero of our political freedom but also the conductor of our spiritual and cultural energy.'
Referring to many welfare programs of the central government, PM Modi said that crores of tribal families have benefited from this and their life has become easier. PM Modi further said that museums dedicated to tribal freedom fighters are being built across the country to mark their contribution and India is moving ahead to fulfil the dreams of Birsa Munda and many other tribal heroes.
Let us inform you that the Modi government at the Center has decided to celebrate 15 November as Tribal Pride Day to honour tribal freedom fighter, Birsa Munda. Birsa Munda, born in 1875, led a rebel movement against the British Raj and conversion activities in areas of the Bengal Presidency, which is today part of Jharkhand. Their rebellion in the Munda belt of Khunti, Tamar, Sarwara and Bandgaon helped in the revival of traditional tribal culture. Let us inform you that Birsa Munda laid the foundation of a new religion called Birsait.
