YADGIR: According to sources, the death toll in the February 25 LPG cylinder bursting event in UKP camp near Doranahalli in this district has grown to ten with the death of five additional persons on Wednesday night. Several of the injured are still in critical condition, according to medical officials.

The incident had resulted in significant injuries to as many as 24 persons. Veerabasappa (28), Bheemaraya (78), Kallappa Lakkashetty (50), Channaveera Myalagi (30), and Channappa are the five people who died (50). While 18-month-old Mahantesh, three-year-old Adya, and Ningamma (85) died on Friday, Gangamma (50) died on Saturday from her burn injuries, and Shwetha (6) died on Monday.

During a'seemantha' (baby shower) programme, the incident occurred in a residence. At the Kalaburagi hospital, fourteen severely injured people are being treated.

According to SP Yadgir Vedmurthy, a case has been filed against the owner of Vijay Gas Agency and Indane Gas distributors of Shahapur under IPC Sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to combustible matter), 337 (causing harm by an act endangering human life), 338 (causing grievous harm by an act), and 304 A (causing grievous harm by an act) (causing death by negligence). An investigation has begun.
