The rules relating to home delivery of LPG cylinders are going to change from November 2020. One time password (OTP) will be required for delivery of LPG in India's 100 smart cities from November one. IOCL sources said that the objective of the scheme is to reach the right customer of the gas cylinder. A new system is being laid down to ensure this. Under this new dispensation, LPG customer will receive an OTP after booking of gas. Then, when delivery boys come to deliver gas cylinders at your home, the customer will have to tell OTP. LPG cylinders will not be delivered without OTP sharing.
IOCL sources said that the system was laid down on pilot basis at Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. He informed that the scheme is being extended to 100 smart districts of India from November 2020 after the scheme is fully successful at the pilot level. Based on the feedback from these districts, the system will be expanded to entire India.
The customer will receive a code after booking LPG cylinders under the new dispensation. At the moment of delivery of LPG cylinder, the consumer will have to show this code delivery to the person. The objective of this initiative is to ensure that the delivery of gas has not been to any wrong person. However, this arrangement may cause a little inconvenience to those who have not updated their phone number with the petroleum company.
