New Delhi, India: On Friday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal flagged off the Rashtriya Ekta Cycle Rally from Delhi University, ahead of National Unity Day on October 31. Along with the Lieutenant Governor, Delhi Government Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev was present at the event.

The cycle rally is being held by the Delhi government as part of the 'Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' which commemorates the country's 75th anniversary of independence and 'National Unity Day.' It will begin at Delhi University's Vice Regal Lodge and end at Raj Ghat. This event is open to the public.

In his speech, Baijal said, "For the past seven years, the National Unity Day has been observed in honour of Sardar Patel. He was important not only in the administration but also in the country's unity. Imagine persuading 562 princely states of various sizes, motives, and intentions!" He went on to say that the cycle rally was a bonus "The central government believes in a fit India, so this cycle rally is for fitness purposes. Due to a lack of space, there is no cycling in the city. However, in Delhi, efforts are being made to ensure that cyclists and pedestrians each have their own space."

Vijay Dev also addressed the crowd, saying that the cycle rally symbolises commitments to unity and environmental preservation, both of which are critical in nation-building. "The first requirement for nation-building is unity. We must dedicate ourselves to the task of nation-building on this National Unity Day " he added.
