New Delhi: A Lucknow court has ordered an FIR against senior Congress leader and former Union minister Salman Khurshid. ACJM Shantanu Tyagi has directed the SHO of Bakshi's pond to submit a copy of the FIR to the court within 3 days. The complaint in the case has been lodged by advocate Shubhangi Tiwari. The case relates to Khurshid's book 'Sunrise over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times.' In this book, Salman Khurshid compares Hindutva with terrorist organizations like Islamic State and Boko Haram.

According to media reports, the complainant has termed the book as a blow to the faith of Hinduism. Chapter 6 (D) of page 116 of the book is mentioned. The title name at this place is 'The Saffron Sky.' It is at this place that Khurshid has been accused of comparing Hindutva to terror outfits Boko Haram and ISIS. The complainant has also said that Khurshid has compared Hindutva to animals and wild. Advocate Shubhangi has said that Hinduism and Hindutva have had the same relationship as mother and motherhood. Hinduism has Hindutva. The petition not only sought action against Salman Khurshid but also appealed for the bail of copies of the controversial book.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had categorically refused to ban Khurshid's controversial book. Dismissing Vineet Jindal's plea, the court had said, "What can we do, if people have become so sensitive. No one has said this and not read it.'' The court had also said, 'If you don't want to read this book, close your eyes. If the book hurts emotions, you can read a better book.'
