Today is first death anniversary of Dravid Munnetra Kadagam (DMK) leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Karunanidhi. The DMK today decided to withdraw a silent march on the occasion. Karunanidhi's daughter and MP MK Kanimozhi reached Waljah Road. M.K. Stalin has also paid tribute to Karunanidhi.

The march to the  Memorial has been carried out and a large number of people attended the march. Those involved in the march also looked extremely emotional during the march. M Karunanidhi, who was the main pillar of South Indian politics and a five-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu, passed away on this day last year at the age of 94. The 94-year-old Dravid Munnetra Kadagam (DMK) supremo Karunanidhi is known to be the historical leader of the country. His demise triggered a wave of mourning across the country.

Karunanidhi, known as the pillar of South Indian politics, took over as CM of the state for the first time in 1969. He was the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu five times after that. More importantly, Karunanidhi was a leader who set a record of losing his seat in every election. He always won from any seat he contested.
