French President Emmanuel Macron has voiced deep worry regarding the significant loss of civilian lives in Gaza. In a recent phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Macron discussed the escalating situation in Gaza and the surrounding region.

A statement released by the Elysee Palace highlighted Macron's expression of concern to Netanyahu about the alarming number of civilian casualties resulting from the heightened conflict. Macron stressed the pressing need for urgent humanitarian aid to reach the civilian population in Gaza, emphasizing Israel's responsibility to safeguard civilians.

Additionally, Macron urged for collaborative efforts involving international and regional partners to establish a lasting cease-fire. France, in coordination with Jordan, plans to conduct humanitarian aid missions in Gaza in the forthcoming days.

Addressing broader concerns, Macron called for Israel to take decisive actions to cease violence perpetrated by Jewish settlers against Palestinian civilians. He also emphasized the necessity of halting new settlement initiatives in the West Bank, emphasizing that these actions jeopardize the possibility of a two-state solution.

Furthermore, Macron sent a message to Iran and its affiliated groups, urging them to abstain from involvement in the conflict to prevent its escalation across the region. Highlighting the significance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Macron underscored the resolution's call for Israel's withdrawal behind the Blue Line and the disarmament of the area between this demarcation and the Litani River in Lebanon. This would only permit the Lebanese army and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon to possess weapons and military equipment within that zone.
