Bhopal: Every year, Earth Hour is commemorated across the globe as a symbolic gesture of collective commitment to environmental conservation. This annual event, observed on the last Saturday of March, invites individuals and communities worldwide to voluntarily switch off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 pm local time. The primary objective behind Earth Hour is twofold: to conserve energy and to convey a powerful message of solidarity in safeguarding the environment.

In line with this global initiative, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has extended an appeal to the residents of the state to actively participate in Earth Hour on March 23. Emphasizing the significance of individual actions in environmental preservation, Chief Minister Yadav has urged people to join hands in this noble cause.

In his message to the citizens, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav underscored the importance of switching off electricity for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, as a gesture of support for Earth Hour. He expressed confidence that the collective efforts of the people of Madhya Pradesh would contribute significantly to the success of Earth Hour and inspire further engagement in nature conservation activities.

Earth Hour traces its origins back to 2007 when it was initiated in Sydney, Australia. Since then, the movement has gained momentum globally, with an increasing number of countries joining the cause each year. What began as a local event in Sydney has now evolved into a global phenomenon, with 178 countries actively participating in Earth Hour annually.

The significance of Earth Hour lies not only in its symbolic act of switching off lights but also in the message it conveys – a message of unity, awareness, and commitment to preserving our planet for future generations. By observing Earth Hour, individuals and communities around the world demonstrate their dedication to sustainable living and environmental stewardship.

As the world unites in observing Earth Hour, Madhya Pradesh joins the global community in reaffirming its commitment to environmental responsibility and collective action. Through small yet meaningful gestures like switching off lights for one hour, individuals can make a tangible difference in conserving energy and protecting our planet's precious resources.
