During her speech, the Finance Minister announced an increase in one rupee cess and one rupee excise duty on petrol and diesel, which has been the case since the Opposition continuously attacked the Central Government. A statement by Madhya Pradesh Food Minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar has come in which he has already lashed out at the Modi government over the Union budget and also made a strange statement on Lord Rama.

In fact, on the rise in petrol and diesel prices, Kamal Nath government minister Pradyumn Singh Tomar has said that "the price has been increased by Lord Rama as the election was contested in the name of Lord Rama."

Tomar further said, "But Even Lord Ram is very upset nowadays because his temple has not been built till date. The price of petrol and diesel has not been hiked by PM Modi. He would say that inflation was not an issue in the election that he won. Corruption, unemployment was not the issue of the election. Why wasn't it? Because the election was fought on the vermilion of the widows of the martyred soldiers."
