Bhopal: Farmers have been protesting against the agricultural law brought by the Centre for nearly two months. A clash between Congress workers and police was also seen in Bhopal on Saturday afternoon. In fact, congress and youth Congress workers led by former CM Kamal Nath in support of farmers marched from Jawahar Chowk to Raj Bhavan. But the police stopped them on the way. The tension escalated so much that the police had to resort to lathi-charge to control the mob.

At the same time, the police also used a water cannon to disperse the workers. The Congress workers were going to gherao the Raj Bhavan, but the police detained 20 leaders, including former CM Digvijaya Singh, on the way. Police have also taken over the custody of Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh and Kunal Chaudhary. The leaders and activists were also lathi-charged and showered with cold water. Several Congress workers were also injured during the lathi-charge of the police.

Before moving towards Raj Bhavan, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief and former CM Kamal Nath said that we stand in support of farmers who are fighting the three black agricultural laws enacted by the central government. He objected to the police lathi charge and release of tear gas and water cannon on Congress workers and targeted the Shivraj government in the state.
