Bhopal: For the sterilization of stray dogs, the municipal corporation has selected a social organization (NGO), which will start sterilization work after the contract. Probably by the end of this month, other processes including contracts will be completed. A file in this regard has also been sent to veteran officials. Actually, the contract of the sterilization institution in the city has ended in November last year.

Due to this, sterilization of dogs has not been done for the last three and a half months and the number of stray dogs has increased in the city. There are many areas of the city where dogs are scared and they are hunting people. Incidents of dog bites have also increased in many areas including Gehukheda, Kolar, Avadhpuri, Bagmugaliya, Jahangirabad, MP Nagar, Talaiya, Shahpura, Mata Mandir area, Panchsheel Nagar.

Complaints of dog bites have increased due to non-sterilization. There were 1987 complaints in November, while in December the figure had crossed 2100. About two thousand complaints have been made in January and February. The Municipal Corporation spent Rs 1.5 crore in the year 2019-20 on sterilization and anti-vaccination. During this period, 13 thousand 423 dogs were sterilized.
