Madras High Court elevates P. Vadamalai  as additional judge

CHENNAI: The additional judge of the Madras High Court, P. Vadamalai, was sworn in on Monday, March 27,  by acting Chief Justice T. Raja of the High Court. While functioning as a judge, Vadamalai has been elevated to the Madras High Court as a new judge.

The Madras High Court will have 59 judges instead of the sanctioned strength of 75 following the swearing-in of P. Vadamalai as the Additional judge.

Judge P. Vadamalai was introduced to the public by Attorney General R. Shanmugasundaram, who noted that he is from Udumalpet, the textile hub of Tamil Nadu. The Attorney General said that the new judge completed his education in government institutions. The Attorney General also said that the new Additional Judge of the Madras High Court was born on April 2, 1966.

In 1990, Justice P. Vadamalai earned his law degree from Government Law College in Coimbatore after graduating in commerce from Government Arts College in Udumalpet.

The newly appointed judge worked for Udumalpet District Court for five years before joining the state judicial services in 1995. As a Salem court magistrate, he joined the judicial system.

The Attorney General  said that the 28 years of experience as a judicial officer in state judicial services would benefit the litigants

Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry chairman PS. Amalraj and office-bearers of various Bar associations in the High Court also, greeted the new judge.
