Chennai: The Madras High Court on Friday categorically refused to hear a petition filed by the Election Commission. In the petition, the Commission demanded that the oral remarks of the court blaming the Commission behind the growing corona infection case in the country be prevented from appearing in the media.

It may be recalled that on Monday, the Madras High Court had slammed the Election Commission for not banning rallies being held by political parties during the assembly elections and said that election commission officials should be booked for murder. The Madras high court was hearing a petition filed by Tamil Nadu Transport Minister and AIDMK leader MR Vijaybhaskar. Vijaybhaskar has demanded that proper corona rules be followed on the counting day in his assembly Karur. A total of 77 candidates are in the fray from Karur's seat. On Monday, the High Court termed the Election Commission as irresponsible and said that this is the case in the country today due to your negligence. Why did political parties allow rallies during the second wave of corona?

On Friday, the Election Commission said in the High Court that these verbal remarks have created prejudice in the minds of the people and now police complaints are also being registered against it. Dismissing the petition filed by senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi appearing for the Commission, the Commission said that if any lewd complaint is made, the Commission can approach the High Court.
