On Monday, the Maharashtra government will introduce a bill in the state legislature regarding OBC reservations.

The Maharashtra government intends to present a bill in the State legislature to ensure reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in upcoming local body elections. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced in the council on Friday that the state cabinet will approve new legislation ensuring OBC quota in local bodies, and that this bill will be tabled in both Houses of the state legislature on Monday, despite continued protests by the Opposition parties over OBC reservation in local body elections.

"Our government thinks that OBC reservation should be granted in local body elections, and we must all work together to achieve this," Pawar added. He went on to say that they will consider it in today's cabinet meeting and then introduce the bill in both Houses on Monday.

"We had requested the details of the Madhya Pradesh bill as a reference, and even Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has instructed the chief secretary to go through this bill, and today there is a cabinet meeting, and we are of the opinion that we will discuss it in this cabinet meeting, and then we will table this bill in both Houses on Monday," he added. The administration is also looking into yesterday's SC order and what else is needed for this measure, according to the Deputy Chief Minister.
