Mahant brutally beats pregnant woman when she comes to temple, Sitapur case

Lucknow: A pregnant woman was brutally beaten with kicks and punches when she entered a temple by a jailed Mahant under Sidhauli Kotwali area in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district, causing grievous injuries to the woman. The injured woman was referred to the district hospital. The victim has submitted a complaint to the police.

Prem Shankar Mishra, a resident of village Andhna in Kotwali area, son of late. Gangaprasad has lodged a complaint with the police. He said that around 9 am on Friday, his pregnant daughter-in-law Mahima Mishra and Preeti Mishra's daughter Deepu radhakrishna had reached the temple andhana village to offer prayers. The Mahant of the temple, Guru Prasad son Ganga Prasad and Murlidhar's son Ganga Prasad, started hurling abuses at entering the temple. The two attacked the women for going to the temple premises and beat them brutally with kicks and punches, the daughter-in-law started bleeding. He has been referred to the district hospital from CHC.

Prem Shankar Mishra further said that the mahant started beating the women unnecessarily. This is a person with a criminal image. Guru Prasad has come out of the mercy petition jail after 14 years. The family members of the victim have been threatened with life and property and to implicate them in a fake case. Kotwali in-charge Alok Mani Tripathi said that a complaint has been received. The whole matter will be investigated and action will be taken.
