Mumbai: After the uproar over the Palghar mob lynching case of Maharashtra, it has been decided to send Palghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Singh on compulsory leave. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Thursday that the Uddhav government of the state has decided to send Palghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Singh on compulsory leave.

During the lockdown last month, a mob in a village in Palghar district brutally murdered three people, including two sadhus. Deshmukh reached the same Gadchinchale village on Thursday in the day, where the incident of lynching took place on the night of 16 April. He spoke to the local public representatives. The minister said that this incident is a stigma on humanity. Deshmukh had said in a video message that, 'I met public representatives, MLAs, MPs, members of Gram Panchayat and others there. After that, the state government decided to send SP Gaurav Singh of Palghar on compulsory leave.

Deshmukh said that the charge of SP will be assigned to the Additional Superintendent of Police. The Maharashtra Police's Crime Investigation Department (CID) is investigating this case and has arrested 115 people.
