Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP unit president Raosaheb Danway has resigned from his post. He met PM Modi and asked him to hand over the responsibility of the presidency in Maharashtra to another leader. Danway has been appointed the minister of state in the Modi government, after which he had been holding the responsibility of the state president for a long time, but now he has resigned from his post and urged to hand over the responsibility to other leader.

It may be noted that since Raosaheb Danway was appointed a minister in the Modi government, there was speculation that Danway could soon resign as Maharashtra BJP president when he was given the post of minister of state in the central government. On his resignation, Danway said, he has resigned from his post and urged PM Narendra Modi to hand over the responsibility of the presidency to a deserving leader. Danway also met PM Modi recently.

He is said to have met PM Modi over his resignation. BJP sources said that the decision had already been taken, but it was only to be officially announced. According to sources, the party is likely to announce new appointments at or before the party's executive meeting soon.
