Maharashtra: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has again given a controversial statement on Friday. He said, "there is nothing new in calling Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar". However, his statement came at a time when Congress is strongly opposing the proposal to change the name of Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar. Sambhaji was the elder son of the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Recently, Aurangabad was described as Sambhajinagar on the Chief Minister's official Twitter handle. Seeing this, the Congress and the NCP were severely criticized. Asked about this criticism, Thackeray said, "What's new in that? We have been calling Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar for years." He also said, 'Aurangzeb was not secular. Secular is not a suitable word for him.' The Shiv Sena chief did all these things to reporters at his private residence Matoshree.

Before this, two BJP leaders from Nashik have been included in the Shiv Sena. Recently on the statement of the Chief Minister, State Congress President Balasaheb Thorat has said, 'Changing the name of the city does not change the lives of the people. There is no development in it. We will make our Chief Minister aware of this trend. Shiv Sena had demanded Aurangabad's name Sambhajinagar for the first time in the year 1995 and this demand is happening till date.
