Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a statement last Sunday. He made the statement to reporters after visiting Chivali and Phulwal villages in Nanded. In it, he said, "His government had provided insurance assistance of Rs 500 crore to farmers affected by rains and floods in each district. Whereas, today, the situation is such that the farmers feel that they have nothing. The rain has destroyed the crops. At the same time, he also said, "Earlier, we used to give crop insurance of Rs.400-500 crores per district. But now the situation is such that there is no one left to take care of the farmers. The damage assessment survey has not been completed, no help is being provided through insurance and there are still no electricity connections.'

Talking to reporters in the Marathwada area of Latur, Fadnavis said, "Some experts have claimed that the work done under the Jalyukta Shivar scheme of the previous BJP-led government was responsible for the floods in the area. These claims are false and their only intention is to raise a political issue against the BJP. '

He further said, "A writ petition was filed in the High Court at that time. The experts had then told the High Court about the benefits of the Water Logged Shivar Scheme. Heavy rains destroyed all crops, including soybeans in Marathwada. The farmers are facing financial difficulties. The state government should deposit financial assistance in the bank accounts of farmers before the Dussehra festival otherwise the BJP will start an agitation. Moreover, Devendra Fadnavis accused the MVA government of conniving with crop insurance companies.
