Mumbai: After the October 21 voting for the assembly elections in Maharashtra, the counting of votes is being done on October 24. According to the initial trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena governments are once again forming in Maharashtra. According to the trends, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance was leading in 161 seats, while the Congress-NCP alliance was ahead in 98 seats.
At the same time, actor Ejaz Khan is leading from Baikula assembly constituency. Other candidates who are contesting from this assembly seat are AIMIM's heir Yusuf Pathan, Shiv Sena's Yamini Yashwant Jadhav and others. In the 2014 assembly election, heir Yusuf Pathan won from here. Significantly, Ejaz Khan wanted to contest from Mumbra Assembly constituency on an AIMIM ticket, but when he failed to get a ticket from the party, he decided to contest from Byculla Assembly seat as an independent candidate.
Several charges were levelled against him when he decided to contest against Heir Pathan. Some also alleged that his candidature from the Constituent Assembly would divide Muslim votes, resulting in the victory of the Shiv Sena candidate.
