Maharashtra Panchayat Election Results: Shiv Sena becomes No. 1, Congress ranks 4th

Mumbai: The results of the gram panchayat elections in Maharashtra earlier have been cleared. The ruling party Shiv Sena has emerged as the largest party in the results. The BJP has been second. Shiv Sena has won a total of 3113 seats in the results which came up till Tuesday morning. In addition, 12,711-gram panchayat seats in 34 districts of Maharashtra were polled, the results of which have been announced on the last day.

Congress- 1823
MANSE- 36
Independents- 2344

This was the first major political challenge before the coalition government of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, led by Uddhav Thackeray. If the Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena look at the results, about 7,000 seats have been won. The BJP claims that many of their supported independents have also won a major victory. 79% polling was held on Friday in 12,711-gram panchayats in 34 districts in Maharashtra. The gram panchayats of the state were to be elected on 31st March 2020, but the election schedule was postponed on 17th March 2020 due to corona. Thereafter, the panchayat elections were announced in December.
