Mumbai: Stone pelting has been carried out at a police station in Hingoli in Maharashtra. An angry mob reportedly attacked the police demanding action against a mobile thief. Seven policemen including a SI were badly injured in the entire case. So far 5 people have been arrested and 100 people have been booked in this case. There is a strict lockdown in the state at present, but even after that, the crowd reached the police station demanding the arrest of the mobile thief. Meanwhile, everyone suddenly started pelting stones at the police station. Seven policemen were injured during the incident.
Police also reportedly had to resort to aerial firing to clear the crowd. The injured policemen in the incident have been admitted to a hospital in Aundha Nagnath for treatment. Regarding the case, police said, "On May 12, a man named Majid Syed Rafique, a resident of Aundha Nagnath, lost his mobile. A complaint of loss of mobile was then lodged with the police station." Further, police said, 'Suddenly 100 to 150 people reached the police station on Saturday and demanded action against the accused.'
Meanwhile, police inspector Vaijnath Munde and SI Munjaji Waghmare went outside the police station and tried to pacify the crowd, though no one calmed down and then had to fire. The seven policemen injured in the mob attack have been identified as Inspector Vaijnath Munde, Constable Dnyaneshwar Gore, SI Munjaji Waghmare, Rajkumar, Surya, Sheikh Iqbal. Two more persons were injured.
