New Delhi: A magistrate in Maharashtra found it expensive to have an 'intimate relationship' with a lawyer. The officer was forced to lose his job due to this relationship. The apex court refused to take any soft stand on the issue, upholding the order of dismissal of the officer from service. A bench of Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Anirudh Bose said, "In our view, lust does not mean mere hunger for money." It can be of many types. It can be hunger for money, power hunger, body hunger etc.
In this case, the officer decided on the case because of an intimate relationship with a female lawyer and not on the basis of the law requiring them to do so. The Supreme Court stated that subjugation in this way has proved harmful for the judicial officer Shrirang Yadavrao Waghmare. They compromised solidarity, behavior expectations and the purity they expected. Their behavior is such that no softness can be shown. Srirang Yadavrao Waghmare was appointed Judicial Magistrate in 1985. He was suspended in February 2001 and in 2004 he was dismissed from service. He did not get any relief from the High Court.
