Mumbai: The infection of corona virus is on the rise in Maharashtra. Last Wednesday, 63,309 new cases of corona infection were reported, and 985 more people died. According to the Health Department, the number of infected persons with new cases has gone up to 44,73,394 and the death toll has gone up to 67,214. With this, a total of 61,181 patients have been discharged during the last 24 hours. It is said that 37,30,729 corona infected patients have recovered so far. At present, there are 6,73,481 patients in Maharashtra who are undergoing treatment. If we talk about Mumbai, there were 4966 new cases and 78 people died.
In fact, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reported that with the new cases, the number of infected persons has gone up to 6,40,507 while the death toll has gone up to 12,990. Not only that, BMC say that 5300 patients were discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours. So far 5,60,401 corona infected patients have recovered in the city. At present, the pace of vaccination in Maharashtra is very slow which is likely to lead to the third wave of infection in the state. This warning has been issued by health experts.
Recently, the Maharashtra government said that it is not going to start vaccination of 18 to 44 years of age from May 1 due to lack of adequate number of vaccines. In view of this, a senior official of the state health department said, "Out of the nine crore people vaccinated in Maharashtra, only 1.50 crore people have been vaccinated so far, which is very low. If we do not speed up vaccination, when people go out for jobs or other activities, it can lead to a third wave of corona infection. ''
