Mumbai: Shiv Sena's Uddhav faction leader Aditya Thackeray on Sunday expressed happiness over the resignation of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, calling him 'anti-Maharashtra'. Thackeray termed it as "a big victory for Maharashtra". On Sunday morning, President Draupadi Murmu accepted Koshyari's resignation and appointed Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais as the new governor. Let us tell you that Koshyari had told PM Narendra Modi about his desire to resign a month ago.

Aditya Thackeray writes on Twitter, "The resignation of the anti-Maharashtra governor has finally been accepted! He continuously insulted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba Pule, and Savitri Bai Phule, our constitution, assembly, and democratic ideals. He cannot be accepted as governor!''

Shiv Sena's veteran leader Sanjay Raut has also given his reaction on Koshyari's resignation. He said, ''Changing the Governor is not a favor to Maharashtra. Even before this many governors have been changed. It has been a year since the people of Maharashtra were demanding a change of Governor because of his (BS Koshyari) remarks on Shivaji Maharaj and Savitribai Phule.'' He had said that he is a great man of the bygone days. He had said, earlier when you were asked who is your ideal, your answer used to be Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Mahatma Gandhi. Now there are many icons in Maharashtra itself. You don't need to look anywhere else. Here Chhatrapati Shivaji is the icon of the olden times. The icons of these days are people like Babasaheb Ambedkar and Nitin Gadkari.
