Mumbai: Preparations are on for the third wave of corona virus in Maharashtra. State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting last Wednesday. In the meantime, he has directed the authorities to keep adequate medical supplies for the possible third wave. Officials and doctors of the Covid Task Force of the state were present during the same meeting. The same CM Thackeray has also stressed on the arrangements for medicines in rural areas. Not only that, but the doctors also insisted on a large scale sero serve. This will provide information on the level of covid antibodies and vaccination among the people.

If we believe in many experts, he also warned of overcrowding and ignoring health rules. Let us also inform all of you that in the meantime, CM emphasized on learning from the previous waves. In fact, in the meeting, he said, "In the first wave, the State did not have enough facilities, but later the conditions improved after the facilities were developed. The second wave taught us a lot. This wave is now going away and by experiencing it, we have to ensure that medicines, health facilities, beds and oxygen are available. It should be taken on priority.''

Moreover, on vaccine availability in Maharashtra, he said, "It is learnt that the state will get 42 crore doses around August-September. Vaccination is an essential part against the corona virus epidemic, but it is equally important to follow covid rules, including wearing masks, maintaining cleanliness and social distensing. During the meeting, the procurement of RT-PCR kits, masks, PPE kits, medicines and provision of funds for them was also discussed. The main point of discussion during this period was that the number of patients in the second wave had doubled as compared to the first wave.

Now that the new Delta Plus variant is a threat, it is estimated that the current figures in the third wave may double. Amidst all this, the Health Department has said, "During the first wave, there were 19 lakh patients in the state and in the second wave, the number crossed 40 lakhs. The number of active cases can cross eight lakhs and the number of infected children can be 10 percent".
