MUMBAI: Marking his 132nd birth anniversary on Friday, April 14, People from all walks of life paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar - the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution. 

Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other politicians went to Chaityabhoomi in Dadar on behalf of the people to pay floral respects to the illustrious lawyer, economist, social reformer, and freedom warrior.

Top leaders of various major parties, including Congress state President Nana Patole,  Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar, Balasaheb Thorat and Ashok Chavan, state chief Jayant Patil, Leader of Opposition (Assembly) Ajit Pawar,Leader of Opposition (Council) Ambadas Danve,  Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Aditya Thackeray, Sanjay Raut, Arvind Sawant and others paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar.

Reports of celebrations in honour of Dr. Ambedkar, regarded as the Champion of the Downtrodden Masses, have been received from all regions of Maharashtra, including the state's major cities, towns, districts, and even individual blocks.

A number of private, public, or semi-public institutions, NGOs, and groups fighting for the cause of the oppressed have scheduled a number of social and cultural events throughout the day to remember Dr. Ambedkar's life, teachings, and contributions.

Significant locations directly connected to Dr. Ambedkar include Mumbai's renowned "Rajgruha," his residential memorial in Dadar east, the south Mumbai locations of Elphinstone High School and Elphinstone College, where he received his education, and his final resting place of Chaityabhoomi in Dadar West, where large crowds of his enthusiastic supporters flocked from across the state.

Other significant locations associated with Dr. Ambedkar, including Nagpur's Deekshabhoomi, where he practised Buddhism, Raigad, where he participated in the Mahad Satyagraha, and his small ancestral village of Ambadawe in Ratnagiri, were specially decorated with flowers, vibrant rangolis, and lights to mark the occasion as thousands of people flocked there to honour his memory.
