New Delhi: Today, the holy festival of Mahashivaratri is being celebrated all over the country. This festival is celebrated every year with great pomp and show. On this special day, a huge crowd of devotees worships Mahadev from the morning. Mahashivratri is also known as the 'Great night of Lord Shiva' and is a Hindu festival observed by devotees from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with much fervor. In such a situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. He tweets congratulating all the countrymen.

Today, on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, thousands of devotees have taken baths in the Kumbh Mela of Haridwar. Here in Brahmakund, the bathing phase started after 12 o'clock at night. Well, not only this, there is a huge crowd of devotees in all the temples of the country since morning. Everywhere people are reaching to perform special worship to Lord Shiva. There is a huge crowd of devotees outside the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi amid the slogans of 'Bum Bum Bhole.' Talking about Ujjain, special worship of Baba Mahakal is done. There is a long queue of devotees for darshan here.

Today, while congratulating this holy festival, PM Modi has tweeted, ''Many wishes to the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Everywhere Shiva!'' Apart from him, President Ramnath Kovind has also tweeted. He wished the countrymen writing 'Best wishes to all countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. This festival, which is celebrated as a sacred remembrance of the marriage of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, should be welfare for the whole of humanity.' Similarly, other leaders have also tweeted and congratulated everyone on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
