NEW DELHI: On the occasion of Mahashivratri, devotees have been flocking to Lord Shiva temples across the nation since early Saturday morning, February 18, 2023, from the Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi to the Shree Lingaraj temple in Odisha's Bhubaneswar.

At the well-known Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Bhasma Aarti was also performed this morning.

Devotees flocked to Gorakhpur's Jharkhandi Mahadev Temple today to worship, and aarti was also performed there. Aside from this, people were also present at the Babulnath Temple in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

One of the most blessed Hindu holidays, Maha Shivratri is observed throughout India.

On this day, Har Har Mahadev chants can be heard throughout the country.

The celebration will be celebrated on February 18 this year. An important Hindu deity named Lord Shiva is honoured during this annual celebration.

The 1,100-year-old Shree Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was illuminated and decorated a day before the auspicious anniversary.

The festival of Maha Shivratri, also known as "The Big Night of Shiva," is observed because it is thought that Lord Shiva performs Tandava Nrutya on this day. Shiva and Shakti's forces merge during the major celebration. Shiva and Shakti are viewed as the perfect example of love, strength, and unity.

Among the famous Lord Shiva temples of Odisha, Lord Loknath Temple in Puri, Lord Dhabaleshwar Temple in Cuttack, Lord Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Lord Kapileswar Temple in Dhenkanal, Lord Panchalingeswar Temple in Balasore, Baba Akhandalmani Temple in Bhadrak, Gupteswar Temple in Koraput, Ladukeswar Temple in Nayagarh,  are about thousand years old and attract lakhs of devotees on the auspicious occasion every year.
