Devotees throng Baba Baidyanath Temple to offer prayers

Deoghar: Today Mahashivratri is being celebrated all over the country. The world-famous Dwadash Jyotirlinga Baba Baidyanath Dham temple in Deoghar, Jharkhand is witnessing a huge rush of devotees due to Mahashivratri. Long queues of devotees have been waiting since early Saturday morning for their turn to arrive.

People are chanting Baba's bhajans with water in their hands. From children to old people, everyone is in line. The administration had already anticipated a huge crowd of devotees. Therefore, proper preparations have been made by the district administration. Water offerings are being provided to the devotees in an orderly manner. Both Shiva and Shakti are seated in Deoghar. On this day on Mahashivaratri, devotees from all over the country and abroad arrive here to worship Shiva and Shakti. Vermillion is also offered along with water.

Tirtha Purohit explains that Baba Baidyanath Dham is the only Jyotirlinga among the Dwadash Jyotirlinga where both Shiva and Shakti are seated. There is no Shringar worship on the day of Mahashivaratri. In fact, special worship is done at four o'clock and a crown is also offered to Baba.
