Mahindra is gearing up to launch the Thar Roxx, a 5-door version of its popular 3-door SUV, on August 15. The new SUV will boast distinct styling, features, and off-roading capabilities. Select Mahindra dealers have already started accepting bookings for the Thar Roxx, with prices expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. The new SUV is anticipated to be priced between ₹18 lakh and ₹23 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 5-door Thar will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door in the Indian market. Under the hood, the Thar Roxx will offer three engine options: a 1.5-liter diesel engine, a 2.2-liter diesel engine, and a 2.0-liter petrol engine. The entry-level variant will come with the 1.5-liter diesel engine and rear-wheel drive setup, while the turbo petrol and diesel variants will feature four-wheel drive capabilities.

Design and Features

The Thar Roxx will have a distinct design compared to its 3-door counterpart, featuring a 6-slot grille instead of the 7-slot unit. Other notable features include new LED projector headlamps, C-shaped DRLs, 360-degree camera, black wing mirrors, door handles integrated into the door frame, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and LED lighting system.

Safety and Interior

The Thar Roxx's cabin will boast a dual-screen setup similar to the XUV700, comprising a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch full digital instrument cluster. The infotainment unit will come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additional features include dual-zone climate control, leather seats, rear AC vents, wireless phone charging, six airbags, and front parking sensors. Top variants will also feature a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite.
