Bhavana Menon, a Malayalam actress, made a brave move by speaking out about the 2017 case in which she was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in Kerala. Dileep, a Malayalam actor, was the mastermind of the assault, along with a few others. Bhavana also described how she has been humiliated throughout the years in a long Instagram post.

Many well-known people in and out of the film industry have shown their support for the survivor and commended her courage. After the survivor's public statement, Malayalam film actors Mammootty and Mohanlal also showed their support for him.

Mammootty reshared the survivor’s note on his social media story and penned, “With you.”

Bhavna posted a statement on Instagram on January 10 that stated, "This has been a difficult road. The transformation from a victim to a survivor. My name and identity have been repressed for the last five years as a result of the abuse that has been perpetrated against me. Despite the fact that I am not the perpetrator of the crime, there have been several attempts to humiliate, silence, and isolate me. However, there have been instances when others have stepped up to help me keep my voice alive "She expressed herself on Instagram.

 Bhavana was assaulted and harassed in her car on February 17, 2017, in Kerala's Ernakulam district, while returning home after filming. A gang in a closed vehicle abducted her.
