Ratlam: Two coaches of the Udaipur-bound Ranthambore Express, which passes through Indore city of Madhya Pradesh, derailed near Ratlam late on Friday night. The horrific accident took place in the Bawdi area of Bhaktan in Ratlam when the train was coming backwards from platform number two. Thankfully, there were no passenger casualties in the accident. With the help of nearby people and passengers, the passengers were alighted from the crashed coaches and made to sit in the other coach. This train had come from Indore to Ratlam station and its engine was being changed here.

According to the information received, between the engine being changed, the train started moving backwards and overtook the dead end of the loop line. Due to this, the general coach in the last part got derailed and the SLR coach was hanged on the slope. This slope is very deep. Thankfully, General Bogie did not come down the slope, otherwise, there could have been a major accident. As soon as the news of the incident was received, senior railway officials and an accident relief train rushed to the spot and started relief work. Since, the accident took place on the loop line, if the train had rolled back and come to the main line, there would have been a major accident.

After the accident, two coaches of the train were removed and left for Udaipur at 11 pm. Railway Division ADM Ashfaq Khan said that a three-member team of higher officials has been formed to investigate the accident. Action will be taken against those responsible only after the inquiry report is received.
