Kuala Lumpur: The controversial Islamic preacher, Dr. Zakir Naik's troubles are not going to be short-sighted. Malaysia has banned the religious preaching of Zakir Naik. Malaysian police say a ban has been imposed on Zakir Naik's sermons in view of national security. According to the report of the newspaper 'Malay Mail', a circular has been issued to police across Malaysia in this regard.
Royal Malaysian Police Head of Corporate Communications Dathuk Asawati Ahmed has also confirmed the circular. Zakir Naik is now resorting to legal stakes after escalating troubles in Malaysia. It may be mentioned that Malaysian PM Mahatir Muhammad has already made a statement three days ago that if it is proved that Zakir Naik's activities are harmful to Malaysia, he could take away his permanent resident status.
Malaysian police are investigating Zakir Naik's statement against the Malaysian minority. According to a report by the local newspaper 'Malay Mail', Naik had on Monday issued notices against Penang's Deputy Chief Minister (2) P Ramasami, Bagan Dalam Assemblymember Satish Muniandi, former Ambassador Datuk Dennis Ignatius and Kalang MP Charles Santiago through a law firm. The notice said that the four men should apologize with appropriate compensation otherwise be prepared to face contempt in two days.
