NEW DELHI: In a scathing attack against Modi government, Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, voiced his concern over the surge in prices and unemployment. He emphasized that the BJP's "hollow slogans" would not deceive the people this time, and they would eradicate the party from power.

This critique follows the Congress party's condemnation of the government for the escalating prices of essential food items, including vegetables. Kharge demanded immediate action from the ruling government to tackle this pressing issue.

In a Hindi tweet, Kharge accused the Modi government of perpetuating inflation and unemployment while remaining fixated on retaining power. He highlighted the skyrocketing prices of vegetables and an alarming unemployment rate of 8.45% in the country.

Kharge further revealed that the unemployment rate in rural areas stood at 8.73%, alongside the overwhelming demand for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Despite these figures, he lamented the lack of available work opportunities and the decline in rural wages.

Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge asserted that the public was well aware of the pre-election slogans like "achche din" (good days) and "amrit kaal" (golden era), which were mere attempts to mask failures through advertisements. However, he confidently stated that the people would not be swayed by hollow promises and would vote against the BJP.

Kharge's conviction echoed the sentiments expressed by the women's wing of the Congress party, who staged a protest outside the BJP office to demand relief from the soaring prices of essential food items. During a press conference, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate presented a basket containing tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and green chillies, symbolizing the exorbitant cost of over Rs 1,070 resulting from rampant inflation.
