Kolkata: Targeting the BJP-led NDA government at the Center on Thursday, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has said that divide and rule politics will not do good for the country, this is the time to handle the ailing economy. The country is currently going through an economic downturn. Addressing an event in Kolkata, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee said that this is the time to salvage the country from economic crisis, rather than hurting Hindu-Muslim issues.
Mamta Banerjee said that, unemployment and poverty have reached a high level. At such a time, I do not know if playing a bean on Hindu-Muslim issues will give any positive result. CM Mamta appealed to the people to work together for peace and prosperity. He said no one knows what will happen to the banks tomorrow. There is an atmosphere of uncertainty in every sector. This has never happened before. Let us work together for peace, prosperity and unity. He asserted that working on religious matters will not yield the desired results.
Mamta Banerjee also claimed that the country's industrialists are afraid of central agencies - CBI, IT department and ED. He said that, many of them have left India for fear of these agencies. Rahul Bajaj had the courage to speak up, but I think he has been kept under observation ever since.
