Kolkata: One day series between India and South Africa has been canceled due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. This is the second time in the last three decades when an international series in India has to be canceled midway. The first ODI of the three-match series between the two teams was rained down in Dharamsala. This was followed by a second match on March 15 in Lucknow, and the third match on March 18 in Kolkata.

After the cancellation of the India and South Africa series, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has expressed displeasure with BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. Mamata has expressed displeasure over not informing the government about the cancellation of the match. The media quoted Mamata Banerjee as saying, 'Everything was right with Sourav. He should have told us a word, if not more. When the match was to be held in Kolkata, at least Kolkata Police should have given information.'

Mamata Banerjee further said, "I am saying this with respect. Why was the Chief Secretary or Home Secretary or Police Commissioner of the state or any other in the government not informed? What would have happened if you had informed us after taking a decision? We are not asking you to stop the match but what would you have done if you were in this situation?"
