Kolkata: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee will now train TMC (TMC) student council members regarding Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). CM Mamata will take a class of elected representatives from the college, university and representatives of youth organization in late January.

This class of CM Mamata will run for 2 days. According to sources, special emphasis will be given to the opposition of CAA and NRC. With this, a separate branch of TMC will be formed even before the municipality election. Sources say that CM Mamata Banerjee will also train this branch. She has been an outspoken opponent of CAA and NRC. Mamata, who has led several marches in protest against CAA and NRC, has said that she will not allow the implementation of CAA in Bengal.

Recently Mamata's anti-stance on CAA and NRC has got the support of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. In a letter to Banerjee, Pawar said, "I fully agree with your concern and stand solidly with all like-minded leaders and parties in opposition to the implementation of CAA and the proposed Nationwide National Civil Register (NRC) Commit."

Mamta Banerjee says , "As long as I am alive, citizenship law will not be applicable in Bengal".
