Citizenship Amendment Act: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to the streets in Purulia on Monday against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Civil Register (NRC) and is calling on all opposition parties to unite against the BJP on the issue. Mamata said that the BJP has received a befitting reply from Jharkhand and within a year, Jharkhand has become the fifth state to come out of the BJP's hand. Addressing the gathering from the dais before starting a 4-kilometer walk from Manbhum Victoria Institution in Purulia to the taxi stand, Mamata said that there is a fear among the minorities about the new law, besides a conspiracy to evict them from citizenship on the pretext of NRC. She will ask all political parties and civic organizations to unite. This is a people's movement and the second fight for independence. There is no place for those who want to drive others away.

Make sure everyone's name in the voter list
Mamata said that the update of the National Population Register (NPR) has already been closed in Bengal. Right now the work of voter list is going on. Addressing the public, she said - 'Just make sure that your name is in the voter list. I will see the rest of the work.' Reiterating the promise of not allowing NRC to be implemented in the state, she said - 'As long as I am alive, no one will have to leave the country. No Detention Center can be built in Bengal. Anyone who is holding a peaceful protest is being called anti-national, but I will not end my protest until the CAA is withdrawn. '

The right to protest against students being snatched
Mamata had supported the students' movement against the CAA across the country, saying how could it happen that they should vote at the age of 18 to elect a government, but not be given the right to protest. Why can't students oppose black law? The central government is taking action against the demonstrating students and expelling them from the universities.

Mamata trying to regain lost land in Purulia through Padayatra
Mamata, who had pioneered five times in 11 days in Kolkata against the CAA when she took to the streets of Purulia on Monday, was accompanied by four state ministers Shubhendu Adhikari, Malay Ghatak, Shantiram Mahato, and Sandhyarani Tudu. The procession started at the Manbhum Victoria Institution, which ended at the taxi stand via BT Sarkar Road, District School Mor, Jalkhana Mor, Haat Mor, Nilkuthi Danga, Radhakrishna. A large number of Trinamool supporters along with common people were also present in it. Political experts are considering the Padayatra as a chance to gain lost land in Purulia on behalf of the Trinamool ahead of the upcoming civic body elections. This is because Mamata made the padayatra a means of public relations even during the Lok Sabha elections. During this time, she was frequently on foot march with the party candidates.
