Thiruvananthapuram: Often many people keep everything including their driving licence, pollution card, helmet, and car papers to avoid fines. Even after this, a man's penalty was deducted because he had put less petrol on his bike. Yes, a man in Kerala recently received a penalty stating that he was riding his motorcycle without enough fuel. The photo of the e-challan sent by the Kerala traffic police was shared by the man, identified as Tulsi Shyam, on his Facebook account.

According to the report received, the man was riding a Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle and was heading towards his workplace when the local traffic police stopped him for riding in the opposite direction on one side of the road. He was then asked to pay a fine of Rs 250 for the offence, which he duly complied with. Shyam said that when he reached his workplace, he saw the traffic slip, he was suddenly shocked, as the reason for deducting the penalty was written- 'Driving without enough fuel with passengers'.

The same media house on YouTube discussed with experts to shed more light on this traffic crime. However, he was told that there is no clause in the Indian Motor Vehicles Act or the state law that prohibits anyone from driving/riding with less fuel. According to Mashable, the only fuel-related offence mentioned in the Kerala Transport Act is that if a commercial vehicle — such as vans, cars, buses and autos — runs out of oil before ferrying passengers to the floor then the driver or owner of the vehicle will have to pay a fine of Rs 250.
