In a grim turn of events, Asfaq Aslam, the man accused of the horrifying kidnapping, rape, and murder of a 5-year-old girl in Kerala's Ernakulam district, has been found guilty in the case.

Ernakulam POCSO Court Judge K Soman delivered the verdict, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice. The court will convene for the sentencing phase on November 9.

The prosecution successfully argued that Asfaq Aslam was found guilty of all 16 charges levied against him, and they are now seeking capital punishment for the convicted individual.

The tragic incident unfolded on July 28 when a 5-year-old girl from a migrant family was forcibly taken by Asfaq Aslam. The heart-wrenching discovery of her lifeless body, bound within a sack, was made in a desolate marshy area behind a local market near Aluva the following morning. Prior to her untimely demise, the young victim had endured sexual assault and endured unthinkable torment.

The dedicated efforts of law enforcement saw the investigation completed and the chargesheet filed within a mere 30 days following the crime. Remarkably, the trial proceeded swiftly and was concluded within just 26 days after the chargesheet's submission. This verdict, rendering justice for the innocent victim, comes precisely 100 days after the tragic incident shook the community.
