Mumbai: On Monday, the Bombay High Court quashed the FIR and charge sheet filed against the person who made sexual remarks towards cricketer Virat Kohli's daughter. The person is a techie from Hyderabad. It was alleged that the same person had made sexual violence comments (rape threats) on his Twitter handle against Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma's daughter after India's T20I final.

A consent affidavit was filed on behalf of the complainant not to prosecute the accused, based on which the case was quashed. The matter was reported by Aquilia Norman D'Souza, who has been the manager of the star duo. Earlier in November 2021, the criminal was arrested. He was granted bail by the magistrate's court in the same month. For the basis of bail, the court said that prima facie a case is not made out against the criminal under section 67B of the IT Act.

Let us tell you that under Section 67B of the IT Act 2000, there is a provision for punishment for electronically publishing material depicting children in sexual acts, etc. The court had said that on the basis of this interpretation, the criminal case was not made out. After being granted bail, the convict filed a petition in 2022 to quash the case itself; notice was issued to the police in June 2022, and then the petition was heard on Monday. After being granted bail, the convict filed a cancellation petition in 2022; a notice was issued to the police in June 2022, and it was finally heard on Monday itself. In this case, it was also said that the tweet was deleted only after it went viral, which suggests that the IP address of the criminal may have been misused. Due to this, there will be problems for his bright future. Along with this, the possibility of hacking was also raised in the case. The convict had said in his plea that he had no criminal history and was ready to comply with all the conditions. Due to this, he had also put forward the medical problem of his eyes. The culprit said that he is a meritorious JEE rank holder and that this case will affect his future prospects. However, the detailed order passed in the matter is yet to be made available.
