The Hockey India League, which has been closed for six years, is also expected to be held at the beginning of next year. Hockey India has also announced the commercial and marketing partners for the league. The league was called off in 2017 due to financial reasons, but Hockey India is now in the process of roping in new partners to launch the league.

Sources in Hockey India say that we want to start the league as soon as possible, but the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has absolutely no free time for the league until February next year. Till then, we have plenty of time to start the league. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey says that he is feeling very relieved today as starting the Hockey India League is his top priority.

This league can be held in the month of March next year because there is no time until February. If time is not available in March, it will be organised in the coming month. This league started in 2013 and has had five seasons so far. Ranchi's team has won the title twice. However, Ranchi Rinhos, the team that won the first season in 2013, has now withdrawn from the league, and Ranchi Rays won the title in 2015 as well. Delhi won the title in 2014, Punjab in 2016, and Kalinga in 2017.
