Shotgun Nationals: Manavjit of Punjab secured 12th and Manavaditya of Rajasthan secured 2nd gold medal

New Delhi: Former Punjab world champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu has won his 12th men's trap gold medal in the shotgun national competition here on Friday, while Manavaditya Singh Rathore of Rajasthan won his second gold medal in the junior category. Manavjit missed a target in round 24, leading him to a shoot-off with seven other contenders for the five final qualifying spots. Kenan Chenai of Telangana, who won the bronze medal, qualified for the final straight from 121 out of 125 points.

Manavjit shot 42 out of 50 in the final and beat state partner Vishwadev Singh Sidhu, who scored 41 points. Kenan had slipped to third place from 32 of the first 40 targets. Manavjeet has thus won the gold medal.

In the junior final, there was a fierce rivalry between Manavaditya and Jangsher Singh Virk of Punjab, but Rajasthan shooter won the national title by winning 45-44 points. His state partner Vivaan Kapoor won the bronze by 35 points. Manavjit and Manavaditya have also won two gold medals on the day by winning team titles in their classes. Manavjit teamed up with Jungsher and Namanveer Singh Brar to finish first. Manavaditya, Vivaan and Aman Ali Ilahi won the junior men's team titles.
