NEW DELHI: Mansukh Mandaviya, the minister of health and family welfare presided over a virtual conference on Saturday of state and federal health authorities to discuss the health issues brought on by the approaching monsoon and likely flooding in Assam.

To ensure the effective handling of floods and any potential further emergencies, Mandaviya emphasized the importance of strong coordination between national and state health authorities.

He stressed the significance of providing key resources including critical care equipment, oxygen supply, hospital beds, and clean drinking water to healthcare facilities in flood-affected communities. The need for preventive healthcare practises and raising community knowledge of vector-borne and waterborne diseases were emphasised by the minister.

The union health minister urged the officials to develop a flood-management strategy to address the ongoing flood situation in Assam, according to the ministry of health and family welfare.

To ensure effective management of any medical emergency, he instructed them to create an online database with all the pertinent information, such as the availability of beds, oxygen, and other medical services.

Mandaviya urged the administrators to make sure that the Health and Wellness Centres had all the necessary supplies, including working medical equipment. He ordered that all healthcare professionals at AB-HWCs receive training so that they are prepared to deliver the essential medical care that is needed during such circumstances.

The ASHAs, ANMs, CHOs, and others should be aware of their obligations in case of an emergency. They will receive advanced training to make sure they can effectively provide medical care during emergency flood control, he said.
